About the Xaverians
One and Exclusive Purpose: Mission
We, Xaverian Missionaries, are a religious community of priests
and brothers founded in 1895 by Saint Guido M. Conforti.
Inspired by the life and dreams of St. Francis Xavier, who left his home country
and family to preach the Word of God to distant lands, we contribute towards
making of the world one single family by proclaiming in word and action the Good
News of God's Reign to non-Christians.
We respond to Jesus Christ's invitation to be His witnesses to the ends of the
world by a life-long commitment to serving the poorest among the poor.
"To Seek, See, and Love God in All"
Missioned to Serve

The Xaverian Missionaries live together in a missionary community consecrated to God by a mission vow and the profession of the evangelical counsels, the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. By our mission vow, we Xaverians promise to dedicate ourselves to the sharing of the Gospel. We live and carry out the mission of the Church in communities, sharing faith, mission commitment, hopes, joys, concerns, spiritual and material goods.
Servant of God's People

A Xaverian Priest is a man called by God and sent by the church to bring the people closer to God. Enabled by Christ’s power in the sacrament of Holy Orders, the priest gathers a community by proclaiming God’s Word, teaching the values of the Gospel, providing guidance and leadership to his people, and celebrating with them the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist.
Committed through Vows to Live in Community

A Xaverian Missionary Brother is a full member of the same community, who
shares the same ideals, responsibilities and the same mission. Brothers carry
out their ministry in a special way, for they can be found doing virtually every
ministry Christians perform. Yet, it’s not so much what they do, but how they
live that makes them special.
Drawing inspiration from Mary

The Xaverian Missionary Sisters (of Mary) were established in Parma, Italy. The seeds of this foundation can be found in the insights of
Saint Conforti. “I would like to start a
Community of Sisters, for I consider it of great importance.” Celestine Healy Bottego, born in Glendale, Ohio on Dec. 20 1895, and
lived in Butte, Montana until her 14th birthday, expressed her consent to
collaborate with Fr. James Spagnolo to start the community of sisters, in 1945
in Italy
How long does it take to become a Xaverian ?

Saint Guido Maria Conforti made known his feelings about his constant
concern: “The preaching of the Gospel is the greatest problem, it demands an
immediate solution since all peoples have a right to Redemption.” This page
answers the question “If I were to join... what happens next ?!?” Check out the
