Xaverian Admission Requirements

Age:

  • To be between the ages of 18 and 35

 

Religion:

  • To be a Catholic man;
  • Commitment to the church-faith community: Do you know and believe what the church teaches? Are you open to diversity of opinions within the same church?  How do you show your love for the church, "the people of God?"

 

Personal Qualities:

  • Emotional health: openness to people and an ability to love oneself and other people;
  • A well-rounded personality;
  • A good physical and mental health;
  • Openness to women: having a healthy attitude in our relations with them;
  • An openness to growth;
  • Other personal qualities including self-confidence, tolerance of others' weaknesses, an ability to relate well to people, and a desire to face new challenges.

 

Education:

  • To have at least the High School Diploma;
  • Openness to on-going formation: Are you able to adapt to the Formation Program offered by the Xaverian Missionaries?  Are you willing to continue your training and growth also during your active missionary work?

 

Faith Commitment:

  • A faith committed to God and to serve God's people;
  • An active spiritual life: based on prayerful reflection and a personal love for Jesus Christ;
  • Closeness to Jesus: having a real intimacy with Him and having our life rooted in the Gospel;
  • Ability to talk about our faith experiences.

 

Religious-Community Life:

  • The applicants should be motivated by a sincere desire to live in a community which is exclusively and totally dedicated to foreign/overseas missionary activity;
  • Capability to live religious life (vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and mission);

 

Commitment to Mission:

  • Ability to live in international communities and to adapt to other cultures;
  • Openness to and concern for the poor: Does your life reflect a concern for the poor?  How do you show it?  Are you familiar with the Bible and the Church teachings regarding the poor?
  • Openness to lay ministry: Religious Brothers or Priests cannot have "know-it-all" attitudes.  Are you able to work cooperatively with all kinds of people?
  • Openness to ethnic and cultural diversity: willing to leave your country and culture to go and work abroad and overseas.
  • Openness to learning from other cultures.
