Novena to Saint Guido M. Conforti
The first miracle attributed to Guido Conforti took place in
1965 in Burundi, Central Africa. After prayers for his intercession from the
Xaverian sisters stationed in Burundi, 12-year old Sabina Kamariza was cured of
pancreatic cancer. Conforti was beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 17,
1996.
The second miracle attributed to St. Guido Conforti was reported in 2003. It
happened in a poor neighborhood of Londrina, Brazil in the parish of St. Raymond
Nonato which was then staffed by the Xaverian Missionaries. At that time, a
young mother prematurely delivered her baby 10 weeks prematurely. The baby was
born with complications including non-developed lungs. The infant, who was in an
incubator in the hospital's natal intensive unit, suffered a cardiac arrest for
over 30 minutes. It was then that the parish prayed to Blessed Conforti for a
miracle. To the amazement of the physicians who could not explain how it was
possible, the infant recovered. Soon after, the infant was baptized Thiago,
which is translated in English as James. He now lives a normal life.

Intercessions for World Missions
We have come to worship the Lord our God, and to honor the memory of Saint Guido Maria Conforti. Through his intercession, let us pray for ourselves, for the missionary efforts of the Church, and for all the people of God.
For missionaries throughout the world, that through the proclamation of the
Gospel of salvation, all people may come to know the one true God and Jesus
Christ. Let us pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our prayer
For the Church, that renewed by the Holy Spirit, may continue to show forth to
the world the mystery of the Lord, and be an instrument of redemption for all.
Let us pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our prayer
For Christian unity, that the Holy Spirit, dwelling in all who believe, may
bring us to that fullness of unity which Jesus desires, one Lord, one faith, one
baptism. Let us pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our prayer
For all of us, that moved by God’s loving mercy revealed in Jesus, we may open
our hearts to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our prayer
For ourselves, that we may be faithful to bring Christ’s word and love to the
world in which we live. Let us pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our prayer

Prayer for Vocations in the Church
(by Saint Guido M. Conforti)
O Jesus,
You died for the salvation of all
and founded the Church
to continue the work of redemption on earth.
Increase, we ask You,
the number of those who preach the Gospel.
Strengthen them in their ministry,
sanctify their service,
so that those who have not yet received the gift of faith,
may soon come to know You and love You on earth,
and enjoy You eternally in Heaven.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen
