Xaverian Mission Newsletter - 2011: July-Sept.
The Love of Christ Impels Us!
.
Young pilgrims from all over the world are meeting in Madrid
this month to celebrate their faith at World Youth Day, Madrid 2011.
Many of them participated in the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (Way of St
James), a collection of pilgrimage routes which cover all Europe and have the
Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain as their final
destination. For more than one thousand years pilgrims have been walking along
the Camino de Santiago.
It is a spiritual as well as a physical path, one that is embraced with an open
heart and tired feet. Stories and lives are shared along the way with pilgrims
from all over the globe giving a visible expression of the unity of the world as
one family.
In the Xaverian Mission Newsletter of August 2011, witness the journey of the
community of Kamanyola, Congo who has just inaugurated the first hospital that
will serve people of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. Another journey is the mission
experience of 20 students from Champain, IL in El Salvador. Also, read an
article on “the Conversation we never had” on what it means to be standing side
by side, shoulder to shoulder, with men and women of all faith traditions.
Our lives are journeys. We can choose the paths we will take and where they will
lead. The stories of these young people, who have chosen to follow Christ and to
embrace the mission to which we all are called, are indeed contagious.
