"What Difference will you make?"

What difference will you make?

In this time of election, young Catholics are called to be builders of a new culture, a new world through their commitment to a political life that shares the values of Christ. The Holy Father asked in the recent World Youth Day:
Dear young people, let me now ask you a question. What will you leave to the next generation? Are you building your lives on firm foundations, building something that will endure? Are you living your lives in a way that opens up space for the Spirit in a world that wants to forget God? What legacy will you leave to young people yet to come? What difference will you make? Sharing our Catholic Social Vision

Faithful citizenship

Pope Benedict has called upon us to build what he called “a civilization of love,” a civilization where the rights and dignity of each person—especially those who are most vulnerable, the unborn and the frail elderly—are respected from the moment of conception until natural death; where the family welcomes children into the world and imparts to them the truths and values that make good citizens; where the hungry and homeless are assisted, the immigrant welcomed, the environment protected, and all legitimate paths to peace are pursued. New Ways to Prayer for a New Society

New ways to Pray for a New Society

Praying Like a Faithful Citizen
Our action as Faithful Citizens should flow from prayer. When we pray, we experience God and we remember that he is in us and in all people, who are created in his image and have inherent dignity. If we want to truly be faithful citizens, we must know how to come to God in prayer, experience God in ourselves and others, and listen to the ways God is calling us to respond.
Nine New Ways to Pray
Try out all of these ways to pray as a Faithful Citizen as well as other creative ideas you might think of. Then try the ones that work best for you again and again – make them a practice in your daily life so that you can be a just prayer and a faithful citizen! More...

Solidarity with the World: Floods in India & Nepal

Solidarity with the World: Floods in India and Nepal

"We have heard the Lord’s command, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In our linked and limited world, loving our neighbor has global implications. Baptism, confirmation, and continuing participation in the body of Christ call us to action for “the least among us” without regard for boundaries or borders.

Rising monsoon floodwaters continue to force people to move in mass exodus far from their homes along the Indian and Nepalese borders, where the devastation from the rains is getting worse. The floods have affected an estimated 2.6 million families in India, and at least 100,000 people in eastern Nepal.

Henry Poole

Different Drummer, a company specializing in socially good and redemptive content, including films like Amazing Grace and Bella is pleased to bring you the movie Henry Poole is Here, starring Luke Wilson, George Lopez, and Adrian Barraza, about a young man (Luke Wilson) who abandons friends and work to spend what he believes are his remaining days alone. The discovery of a "miracle" by a nosy neighbor ruptures his solitude and restores his faith in life.

Provoke Radio

Provoke believes the desire for social justice has long been a central theme, not only of our own Roman Catholic tradition, but of all the world religions. Provoke starts with that desire and engages you from the vantage of your own faith. As we explore issues of social justice and ethics, we do so within the context of inter-religious dialogue, and in the process, discover a rich treasure of common values.
