Thanksgiving leads to Mission

THANKSGIVING GIVES BIRTH TO SELFLESSNESS
Gratitude gives birth to unselfishness, forgiveness, generosity, courage, patience, joy, peace, and so on. Gratitude is the motivational force that thrusts us into self-sacrifice.
Take a look at some of the ways youth are reaching out beyond the borders of faith and culture, in a sense of purpose that can only come from the 'blood of the cross"!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
College Campuses for World Aids Day
If we believe that we are one human family, than a brother or sister of ours becomes infected with HIV nearly every 12 seconds. December 1st is
World AIDS Day, and together we can raise awareness of the disease, reduce the stigma often associated with it and support programs that directly serve those in need. Here are some great resources from
Catholic Relief Services:

Faith Commitment in the College Classroom
Interfaith Youth Action in Sharon, Mass
We are a group of teens that work together to nurture interfaith understanding, while reducing prejudice and misunderstanding. Adults say a lot of things - they tell us we have the power to change our communities, shape our nation, and transform our world. They convince us that they will stand behind us, and they do. Our Youth Leadership Program brings together Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Jain, Unitarian, and secular high school students. All programs are planned and run by teens.

He's Been Waiting for You...
For a week, I had been in a lost village of the Ivory Coast, and my head busy with other things, prayer was of lesser importance. That evening, however, when the setting sun was painting fire-red all around, I entered the little chapel and I thanked the Lord to be there. Soon after, as I was leaving, I met a little Sister who had made of her life a gift to the Lord among the least - or should I say, the first? - of the earth, and said "You know, Sr. Janne, I went in to greet Jesus." She answered, "He has been waiting for you for centuries..." and I felt embraced by His infinite tenderness. From that moment on, nothing was the same.

"The Church Knows Neither Borders or Frontiers"
"The universal Church, which knows neither borders nor frontiers, feels responsible for announcing the Gospel to whole peoples - write Pope Benedict XVI -. It is the duty of the Church, seed of hope by vocation, to continue Christ's service in the world."
It is with these words that we dedicate this issue of the Xaverian Mission Newsletter of November
2009, and bring you stories from the street children of Bangladesh, typhoons and earthquakes in the Philippines and Indonesia, interreligious dialogue in the United States, news of this great mission from around the world. We also want to share with you a special program of the US Bishops and Catholic Relief Services called:
